Lord of the Rings Campaign - Cirith Ungol

After an Easter hiatus (General B. is a devout and strict observer of religious festivals) it was back to the Ilko Gaming Hut for more MESBGLoTR (or whatever).

This would be the Cirith Ungol scenario with Uruks and Orcs fighting over a mithril jumper while Sam attempts to get to Frodo and give him a cuddle.

I complicated the gaming by arriving a day early. So General B. wasn't expecting me. But it was OK, he wasn't busy. Sorry!

The next challenge was the scenery - it's quite specific, not terribly clear and one use only. So we set to with assorted plastic and resin bits of wall and fettled something we were happy with.

Then we set up and went at it.

I set up Orc archers in prime sniping positions. Forgetting that the Uruks would go first and mug them before they got to shoot!

All around Uruks went on the attack.

But the dice favoured the Orcs and several of their bigger brethren fell.

At the foot of the stairs a whirling melee saw Shagbastard (I think that's how it's pronounced) the Uruk leader pounced on by Orcs.

Meanwhile on the inner walls more fighting was going on.

As it was in the courtyard below.

Seeing where they were needed to Uruks abandoned the Orcs on the outer walls and headed for the stairs.

Gitshag (again I think that;s how you say it) had now climbed the stairs and was helping the Orcs out.

As the fight "at foot o t'stairs" rumbled on.

Orc attrition was quite high by this stage,

But on the inner wall weight of numbers was beginning to tell.

As Gitshag began to "hand it out"

However Shagbastard made it up the stairs and seized the Mithril undergarments.

Still the Uruks held the Orcs on the stair.

But eventually weight of numbers told and an Orc tide raced up the stairway.

Almost unseen a wee but rotund and determined figure was making his way towards the tower.

As he was in possession of the Mithril Nethergarments General B. was more than happy to have the hobbit hurl himself at Orcs.

But the tousel haired hobbit hero could not be overcome and laid about himself with Sting and frying pan.

Despite the weight of numbers the Orcs were getting duffed up by Shagbastard - who knocked Gitshag down and then danced on his skull with his big size 12s.

The Otrc conga on the stairs couldn't force their way into the narrow passage!

At last the two special friends could hold one another again.

While Shagbastard clutched the Mithril Vest and taunted the few remaining Orcs.

Victory to the forces of Good (though these things are all relative).

A nicely balanced and fun scenario that started well for the Orcs until Shagbastard got involved.

On the home stretch now, just a couple of scenarios to go and we'll have played the entire quest of the Ring Bearer.

Which is nice.

  3. Interesting to see the Orc civil [or should that be uncivil] war. An unusual scenario to see reported.
    Sam did well.
Thanks for sharing this and I wish you well with the remaining scenarios in the series/campaign,
    Stephen
