I took a few pictures of other people's games and models when I wasn't losing in Leeds and here they are.

Who doesn't love a big blue frost giant?

The Samurai pointed their sharp sticks at them.

An evil Draugr lurked by a tomb (as they habitually do whenever the Iron Age Celts and Feudal Japanese come to blows)

Epona took on the Samurai and slowly whittled them down.

With assistance from her equine chums.

Meanwhile however the Japanese god of war with some daemonic assistance was rapidly polishing off my mortals.

In the end I ran out of warm bodies before the Japanes did and it was another loss. A great fun game with a splendid opponent - and a lovely looking Japanese army.

After lunch it was time for the second game. This was against Oliver and his Egyptian force.

Both forces had Legends with the "Culling of the Weak" trait - which can be really nasty, so things started a bit cagily.

My Banshee went sneaking around the flank.

Skeletons were boosting Anubis.

As Epona cautiously advanced.

The horses, fearing being "culled" ran around the flank.

The Sphinx proved decisive and chased off the slingers.

Victory again went to my opponent. I'd forgotten the grind of playing undead. In most games kill the god and watch the mortals run off but undead don't mind - so you need a different way to beat them.

Kevin at the Leeds club organised another day of Or Gods and Mortals gaming. Only James and I were able to make the trek up from Nottingham but there were nine other players waiting for us on arrival.

After the Norse themed event of earlier in the year this one was "open" in terms of which gods and pantheons were used - as long as they were "real world" so there was a broad selection of models on show

Celts, Egyptians, Greeks and Norse were all present, along with Japanese (and possibly some others I missed).

I was using Celts - my Epona led list, heavy on the horses. Unfortunately I didn't have time to get a game in before the event, so this would be the first time I'd played since then. Fortunately the basics of OGAM are pretty easy to remember.

My first game was against John  who I played at the Norse event back in March. He was still using Norse, but had swapped Hel for Vignal - a more fighty god.

I placed my Kelpie in a pond - because that's the right place for a water spirit to start the game.

Shieldmaidens bar the way

Trollwolves and a Valkyerie accompanied the god.

Trollwolves started fighting the horses.

The Puca faced off with the Smith.

Victory went to the Viking forces after a thoroughly enjoyable tussle. I remembered the basics of the rules, but had forgotten all of the synergies and how to actually win the game.

Bought this model on a whim a while ago because it's lovely. Half a plan to use her for Of Gods and Mortals.

Of Gods and Mortals - Fight for the Rainbow Bridge

Kev was down in the area from Leeds, looking for Nunneries and finding Roundhouses apparently and suggested meeting James and I for a game. The obvious thing to do was leave the Rainbow bridge in situ but play Of Gods and Mortals. So that's what we did.

I took Freya and her shieldmaidens, Kev had Odin Draugr, Dwarfs and wolves and James had assorted Frost Giants and Trolls. The scenario was pretty simple - if your god was on the Rainbow Bridge at the end of a turn you got a VP. Whoever had the most VPs at the end would win - providing your god was still on the board.

When the game began it was still light outside and sunlight coming through the door of the Sherwood Soldier Shack made for some tricky, but interesting photos.

Freya and the berserkers got stuck in to Odin's dead followers

While giants lumbered about menacingly

The shieldmaidens and their heroine cornered some dwarfs.

But Odin helped a Dwarf hero put my Valkyrie to the sword.

While James' wolves and Fenrir tried to eat another Valkyrie

Freya was finding the draugr tougher than she hoped. Her breathtaking beauty having no effect on dead blokes.

But the shieldmaidens were dealing with the dwarfs

Odin stood at the foot of the stairs, staring.

Freya took up the challenge of dealing with the Frost Giant

Meanwhile another giant had decided to help the remaining dwarf.

Freya was banished and the giants took on the All Father.

The dwarf just wouldn't die!

And nor would the Valkyrie.

The undead shambled to help Odin

With the dwarf finally dead the giant picked on the shieldmaidens

Odin left the mortal plain

And Angbroda decided she'd banked enough points to come down off the bridge.

The giant killed one maiden.

But then was pushed back, slipped on the ice and went down!

The Valkyrie delivered the killing blow

The draugr too toppled a giant.

Soon after this the game drew to a close. The Frost Giants had built up an unassailable lead and would clearly be rampaging in to Asgard!

Great fun game with great company. Of Gods and Mortals is a splendid game and ideal for this kind of fun throwdown. Lots f great cinematic moments and a good excuse to get all those cool models you want on the table.
