Zombies for Warmaster

I *was* hoping to debut an all new Vampire Counts army at Summer Sizzler next weekend, but that plan has been derailed...

Anyway I got some more Zombies done

Midgard in 10mm - Undead v Empire

Scrivs and James have recently been bitten by the 10mm bug and put together armies for Midgard using Wargames Atlantic plastics and Forest Dragon prints. I obviously have quite a large collection of Warmaster figures but I have no intention of rebasing them permanently to play Midgard with. I was musing on getting some appropriately sized Warbases bases and adding steel to the top to allow me to use my magnetised Warmaster armies when someone on Facebook showed off and shared some 3D Printed sabots they'd designed. Martin very kindly printed some up for me and so, when James was looking for a reason to playtest some trial undead rules I was able to provide both an opponent and some suitable undead troops.

Here's the game in video form

The Empire army assembles

The horse were assigned the left flank

The raving flagellants were in the centre.

A host of undead manifested (we gave them all the same rules regardless of models - it was a playtest of those specific rules)

As well as undead there were Orcs and trolls to deal with

But a Necromancer held sway in the centre

More Orcs were on the left of their force

The Empire held their ground as the evil force surged forward.

the White Wolves however saw their chance to ride down the wargs

the Pistoliers strayed close to the enemy lines

As the Knights of Sigmar's Blood held back.

The Empire shooting did little to slow the onrushing horde

The pistoliers had indeed got a little too close for comfort

The Empire line stood firm

Well, apart from the flagellants, who charged and the Knights of Sigmar's blood who sought to avenge the fallen pistoliers

The Knights found the Trolls tough going

The flagellants did what flagellants do - inflicted pain and died in the process

the flanking Empire troops adjusted to close on the strong evil centre

As the flagellants went down swinging

The Knights too were taking punishment

The Empire centre was in danger of being overwhelmed

But the threat to their flank saw the undead turn as the Empire crossbows inflicted bloody ruin on the Orc flank

Only a single unit of Orcs survived the hail or darts

The flagellants met their demise (much to their delight no doubt) as the Empre general was drawn in to mthe fray

The White Wolves had worked their way to the rear but the Necromancer called up more undead to block their way

The fight was in full swing

The trolls were now threatening the Empire flank

The Empire General hung on grimly

The Orc left had been destroyed

Disaster struck the Necromancer - the dreaded "double raven" saw him banished from the mortal realm.

Fortified by the Wizard the crossbowmen poured fire into the Trolls

 

The trolls were routed and with that the Empire was able to claim the victory!

A great game - the playtest undead rules worked well and I felt under pressure the whole game until suddenly their Reputation deserted them and I ran out a victor by a large margin

Getting the 10mm armies out for Warmaster was also great fun.

Warmaster Graveyard

A few years ago at Wormaster I was given a small pack containing some Warmaster gravestones and chapels.

They're from Cromarty Forge - part of a larger set of STLs I think

The walls I made from cork board. I kept them separate so they can be moved to allow model placement.

The base is a simple square of MDF covered with sand and painted brown.

I based the graves on plasticard so they can be moved around

Some of the inhabitants keeping the riff-raff out.
