Following on from our Greek OGAM day back in September one of the participants, Kev arranged a reverse fixture up at the ELMS club in Leeds. James and I were only to happy to make the trip. After our small, but perfectly formed gathering in Newatk there were to be an impressive ten gamers taking part,
As a change up from last time we'd be playing with Norse themed armies and before starting we had a photoshoot of the gods involved.
A lovely and eclectic mix of models - one of the best things about OGAM is the ability to build a force using models that *you* like.
I spent a week or two, aided by Contrast Paints speed painting a Freya led shieldmaiden force using models from Bad Squiddo, Gripping Beast and Footsore. Sadly weather conditions meant I couldn't get them varnished, so I didn't apply any tufts or static grass. I'll do that when the thaw sets in!
In the first game I was drawn to play host and all round nice chap Kev with his lovely Sif force.
One of Kev's legends was this weird undead hare thingy.
I had some slingers who I didn't expect much of. Lovely Bad Squiddo models, mind.
Kev's Frost Giant mooched in to view
Berserkers on the right, warriors on the left.
I had a witch on a moose, because why wouldn't you have a witch on a moose?
The objective was the stone circle, inhabited by malicious spirits.
Sif had some wolves, and lots of drag...drugr...dragu...undead.
See, there they are, all dead and yet not dead at the same time.
Kev had a pair of Valkyries, one on a flying horse
Pretty soon we had some hot Valkyrie on Valkyrie action
Who's sending who to Freya's gardens?
The berserkers got stuck in to Sif. Being female they were immune to her beauty.
Freya joined in too and Sif got banished for a bit.
More hardcore hot Valkyrie action
Meanwhile Sif's followers were occupying the stone circle.
The wolves decided to deal with the ladies who were wearing bits of some of their best friends.
Finally Freya's ladies got into the circle.
The dead plodded slowly on.
But Freya and the ladies were ready for them.
Meanwhile the slingers stood around watching (and praying occasionally)
Still the Berserkers hung around.
Soon after this the game came to an end with Freya in possession of the circle!
A win on first outing for newly painted models. Unheard of!
Great game that swung back and forth and a reminder of what a cracking little game OGAM is.
Next up, more goddess to deal with in the shape of Hel!
