After a break for lunch it was time for round two - I had dropped to mid tables and would be playing against Iain, known on the Facebook page as Morgan Bernhardt, organiser of Wormaster and creator of many very fine Warmaster videos over on his YouTube channel.
Iain had a very nice High Elf army using original GW metals - another old school match up.
The Chaos horde assembles
Cavalry to the left flank.
A big block of High Elves.
My centre pushed up but the left flank fell behind.
I had grabbed a couple of objectives - now all i needed to do was hold on to them.
My centre looked pretty solid.
But my chariots too were off the pace.
Not exactly "horns of the buffalo"
The dogs holding an objective got caught by some cavalry.
The Chariot brigade thundered home and the general went off to join them.
However I got a bit carried away with some of the chariots and they got caught on the hill.
I'd also got carried away with the harpies.
It was kill or be killed for the Warriors.
I had busted up the Elf left pretty comprehensively.
But the elf counter-punch was underway.
My expensive and powerful cavalry brigade was stuck out on my right flank.
As my chariots were munched.
The Dragon Rider caught the Dragon Ogres napping.
The warriors retreated into the safety of the woods, but the field belonged to the High Elves.
Great fun game with a splendid opponent. The game began fairly well for me with my chariot brigade giving the elves a good beating. However the High Elf leadership and Iain's superior generalship meant they fought their way back and a bit of poor positioning and some poor leadership roles meant I couldn't bring my hard hitters to bear to even things back and I went down to a second defeat.
