Matt came over for the first game of 2025 - Warmaster Revolution with him taking the Dark Elves and me using Chaos. Matt's working on DE of his own but wasn't able to bring them over and I've never quite finished a 2,000 point force of them, so we played an 1850 point game.
The forces of Tzeentch prepare to meet the foe.
Hero on a dragon, who doesn't love a bit of that?
Serried ranks of Dark Elves stand ready.
Hydra waiting menacingly.
The Dark Elf infantry pushed up.
With some Dark Riders in support.
More infantry crested a hill.
The Chaos forces seized the opportunity and fell on the elf line.
Even the Dragon Ogres got involved.
The Chaos Cavalry stood back in reserve.
The infantry largely laid to waste the Chaos forces clattered into the Cold Ones.
The Dark Elf centre was taking severe punishment.
And was soon overwhelmed.
The Dragon Ogres lined up to charge the Dark Riders.
The Warriors now turned their attention to the hill.
Bravely (or insanely?) the With=ch Elves launched themselves from the hill, taking down Chariots and Dragon.
Getting close to the Dark Riders proved a costly mistake as six shooting hits saw them driven back and routed from the field.
Finally the hydra stirred to live and approached the Chaos lines. But the knights launched a swift counter.
As the Chaos Warriors surged up the hill.
The Witch Elves howled on into combat with the Chaos flyers.
The Knights severed the hydra's multiple heads.
And with that the Dark Elf army was broken and the field belonged to Chaos.
A though game for the Dark Elves - the Warriors demonstrated how tough they can be wiping out the centre of the Dark Elf force in short order and despite some success with the Witch Elves it was too big a hill to climb back for the forces of Naggaroth.
