Warhammer Ogres v. Orcs and Goblins

Steve has moved to the Isle of Man.
He claims it's actually the Isle of Wight, but I carry on calling it the Isle of Man because it causes him immense amusement.

Anyway he invited me to cross the waters and celebrate the opening of his new purpose built Hobby Cave - The South Man Palais des Jeux (It's bigger than his previous Noth Notts Gaming Hall and so is in fact a palace. Apparently.)

So I rocked up with 2400 points of Ogres to enjoy the full 8x4 splendour of the spacious, well lit Palais.

Spandex was due to join us the following day for Triumph and Treachery gaming, so this was a precursor wherein the Ogres (hired by von Gesegnet of Middenheim) have set forth to attack the lands of Stefan Gauser in revenge for Gauser's cross border campaign of days gone by. On their way they blunder into Waaagh Ginganuts, emerging from the swamps to attack Gausers lands at the same time in an unfortunate coincidence. Rather than join forces the two armies attack one another.

I took lots of pictures and we paused part way through for a jolly fine curry and we drank beer, so what follows is heavy on the eye candy and low on insight. (unlike usual, eh readers)

The Bear-Belly Clan, lead by their fearsome Tyrant Tomtolgoi Bear-Belly assemble on a hill

Some of the goblins have occupied a swamp. Probably an upgrade on their usual foetid cave.

Ironguts too. 2400 points is a lot of Ogre.

Behold the majesty of the South Man Palais des Jeux.

Note glass of water on far hill.
Important to remain hydrated.
At least initially.

Goblins, skulking next to the swamp.

From the other end of the pitch.

Unsportingly the Orcs had a Wyvern with 'em

The Ironguts went for the savage Orcs.

I think in the end the Tyrant killed the Warboss, but his unit broke and was run down.

The Mournfangs failed to go through the Orcs behind the fence.

Leaving a tempting flank for the giant...

Oh.

The Sabretusk was annoying the spider and slowing him down.

The Wyvern was Ogres run away.

Bulls faced off against the big spider.

Then thumped home.

The Leadbelchers rallied behind the Wyvern

I have no idea why the Sabretusk was fighting a poisoned horde of goblins. It probably seemed a good idea at the time.

The bulls killed the Spider (who's venom surge was more of a spurt)
And went looking for giant trouble.

I think the other bulls managed to kill the Wyvern at around this point.

The giant and the chariot crashed home.

Some more things happened that I didn't take pictures of.
Beer was drunk.

The Orcs and Goblins held the field. I think. Probably all my Ogres were dead, I can't remember the details for some reason.

Anyway, Warhammer was the real winner!
