Lion Rampant Wars of the Roses Campaign - Game Two

Flushed with success and confident that the forces of Lord Ballroom are in full flight, Lord Kerbye sends out a small force to lay claim to Thatchyre's Motte a small hill in Ballroom lands with commanding views of the countryside. Unfortunately Ballroom troops are out in force on patrol.

And so to the second game of our campaign. This time I had selected my 20 point force. General B had a 24 point force. Glory would be accrued by holding the central hill. Outnumbered I decided my best hope was to head for the hill and hope to accrue enough Glory to win before the Ballroom forces would force me to withdraw.

The white clad archers of the Kerbye faction prepare for action.

Men at Arms and billmen prepare to assault Thatchyre's Motte.

Nasty Ballroom archers appear on the horizon.

With plentiful support.

Soon the Kerbye archers are wading across the narrow stream known as Truss Gush.

The Men at Arms again risk rusting their suits and do the same.

Followed by the billmen.

The Kerbye archers soon come under withering fire and are pinned.

The Men at Arms use the Motte for cover.

As the bill circle to the left.

Kerbye's biddowers have had some initial success but have then taken damage that renders them largely impotent.

The billmen mount the Motte.

Ballroom's bill withdraw from the woods.

The Motte belongs to Kerbye!

Ballrooms Men At Arms make a devastating charge on Kerbye's men.

The billmen are forced to intervene.

But are held off and pushed back.

Ballroom's archers deal death on Kerbye's Men At Arms

So only the commander himself remains.

Ballroom's men waste no time in closing in for the kill!

Great fun game.
With these small, elite Wars of the Roses forces a difference in points seems to be quite significant so I always felt this was an, ahem, uphill struggle in both senses.

Looking forward to the next game when I think we've both got 24 point retinues in the game.

Here's a few more phone pictures
