29 Let's Go! Campaign - Game Two -another Probe at La Cambe

After being thrown back in the last game the Americans returned, up-gunned with a load more support.

The US forces got the best of the patrol phase with the Germans pushed back on one side of the board. However squads were soon racing to cover the other flank.

The house that was on fire in the last game was now a smoldering ruin, which the Americans took advantage of.

A second squad deployed in front of the garage.

And the last squad took up position on the left.

Johnny German had bought his Pak along again.

A ranging shot hammered down but the damage was slight.

Covering fire also lit up the anti-tank gun.

The full might of the battery fire descended. But damage was minimal and the turn was ended with a CoC die. Future attempts to recontact the battery failed.

The Yanks were well established in the smoking ruins.

And  second squad joined the advance.

On the left, however over enthusiasm saw a squad caught in the open with no way of breaching the minefield. The Mg42s extracted a heavy toll.

The Pak managed to destroy another Sherman and had a second of the day in its sights.

The centre squad pushed up and closed down a JOP.

At this point the Germans were considering pulling out, but with US Force Morale hovering dangerously low I suggested they should at least try another shot or two at the Sherman.
With a whizz and a loud bang the Tommy Cooker was lit up, the last morale fell and the field remained in German hands. (Or should that be German Hans?).

It's a tough one this, but I definitely lost it - I'd won the patrol phase and had the resources to take my time and squeeze the Germans out, but played foolishly (advance toward a minefield in the open without bothering to bring any engineers...why?).

The CO's opinion is plummeting and I need to get past this scenario at the next attempt!
