So after a brief reset and some biscuits (just regular chocolate - no Hobnobs, we weren't playing Lardy games) it was time for another game with James' lovely Tlingit collection.
This time the Russians and their allies were fleeing back to their boats with Tlingit warriors in heated pursuit.
The Tlingit were determined to hunt down the invaders.
The Aleut just wanted to get back to their boats
Tlingit hard on their heels
The Tlingit leader was leading the way.
Keeping the Aleut running!
Also with the Tlingit was one of their shamans
Urging the men on with his powerful medicine
The Russians paused to give their allies covering fire
And the Tlingit took damage and were pinned.
But more continued the pursuit
Musket fire belched from the Tlingit
And they made haste to cut off their enemies
But the Russians stood firm
More warriors pushed through the woods
Eventually the Tlingit fell on the Russian lines
Gunsmoke and warcries filled the air
As the Tlingit musketeers kept up the fire
Many of the raiders were now at the boats as the Tlingit closed in
Boats began to be pushed into the waves
The Tlingit kept firing at the fleeing foe
The shaman urged his followers on
As the Russians and their allies began to make good their escape
The boats and canoes were filling
Tlingit warriors were closing on the beach
With the bulk of the raiders escaped the last of the Aleuts turned to taunt their enemies
And the Tlingit were unable to prevent their escape
A far closer game than the last one.
Some crucial failed orders from the Tlingit gave the Russians the chances they needed to make good their escape.
Camera pictures now of the same game
Aleut on the run
Tlingit in pursuit
The Russians turn and ready muskets
A pair of splendid games with excellent company.
