I assembled and painted a unit of the Wargames Atlantic plastic Afghans. Grouped for games of The Men Who Would Be Kings this is a unit of 12, classed as irregular infantry in the game and armed with an assortment of rifles and muskets.
Quite fast and simple paint jobs, white undercoat then some contrast paints for the browns, a few off whites in some places then washes and highlights with base colours.
Quite pleased with how they turned out.
Very nice
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil
DeleteThey have scrubbed up rather well Tom...
ReplyDeleteOr should that be washed? 😁
All the best. Aly
Yes, washed and lightly buffed up probably describes it :)
DeleteNice work Tom, are they better models than their fauns that you were not so impressed with?
ReplyDeleteThey're...ok.
DeletePoses are a little static and stiff really,
Not sure how many of them other than the kneeling one work with the firing arms for instance.
But the faces are characterful. and the detail nice enough to respond quickly to my simple wash based "technique".
Going to buy some Perry ones soon as these are done, which I think look superior.
They're OK but now the Perry set is out I'm not sure why you'd buy these instead.
They are certainly better models than the Fauns. I'm sure they'd point out that the Faunsvare technically designed and sculpted by another company. WA just helped get the sprues made.
DeleteLovely painting. You have really brought out the detail and character of the figures.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thanks James, it's honestly a very basic technique I use
DeleteGreat paint job. How hard were they to put together?
ReplyDeleteNot too bad. They're a little flimsy and lining up the left and right arms holding guns us always a bit if a faff on plastics. But these are no worse than most and better than some.
