Warhammer 8th Edition Ogres v. Warriors of Chaos

Pestilential Plague Lord Kenton came over for another game. 2400 points with the diagonal deployment. I decided (on the roll of a dice) to use Ogres instead of Empire for a bit of variety.

Kenton had newly painted 500 points of Daemon Prince. Lovely model and great painting. Pure filth in the game.

The Ogres stood ready (apart from the Mournfangs who would be in reserve)

Seeing my deployment the Chaos hordes all bunched up in the corner.

My first magic phase went splendidly. Ending with the first attempt.
Fortunately Kenton killed my Butcher in the next turn, so I never had to worry about casting anything ever again.

I'd sent Tiddles the Sabertooth forward to lure out the Khorne lads.

While Cuddles went around the flank.

The chariot chased off the brave cat. Who would not rally for the rest of the game.

Filthious the Daemon Prince made his move on the flank.

Turn two and the Ogres go IN!

Apart from the ones where the Butcher used to be, who are deployed as an expensive speed bump for Filthious.

The Bulls smash the Nurgle lads assunder.

Then the Ironguts repeat the dose of medicine. The Chaos centre doesn't like it up 'em.

Filthious lets the Khorne mincing machine go to work on the other Bulls.

But I have a plan for them...(the Mournfangs - arriving very late in the day)

Eventually Filthious gets stuck in to the Tyrant.

The Mournfangs go through the Mincing Machine and then get Juggers in the face.

Filthious decides fighting a Tryrant isn't on his list of fun things to do and so casrs a Purple Sun that kills the Tyrant and my giant! Filthy.

The juggers come out top in the battle of fighty blokes on the back of big fight death things.
Then plough in to the Leadbelchers.

The Mournfang champion is still heading for the hills.

The Ironguts without their Tyrant are soon dealt with and the chariot smashes into the last Bull unit.

The dogs that played no part in the game. Nicely painted though, eh?

It's not going well for the 'belchers.

Or for the Bulls for that matter.

Filthious decides to get stuck in as well, just to make sure.

And that, gentle reader was the end of the line for the Ogres.

Great game. I was a bit on the back foot after the early death of my Butcher. The charges had pulled me back in to things and it was reasonably well balanced until Purple Sun took out a fifth of my force (and my two best fighty things) in one go.

Great to get the toys out and Filthious looked amazing (even if he is filthy).
