Following on from Stephen travelling north to the Sherwood Soldier Shack for his half century celebrations Kenton and I made the reverse journey to the grim south and the Isle of Manly Men. Two whole days of toy-soldiery shenanigans lay before us.
First up would be a game using only the alternative armies from the Arcane Journals - Stephen took the Betonnian Exiles, allied with my Dwarf Royal Clan taking on Kenton's Heralds of Chaos list.
The Quarrellers lined a fence and awaited the onslaught
A solid centre flanked with Errant knights.
There's a *lot* of Chaos on that hill.
Peg Knights and a tooled up Baron.
No black powder for the Dwarfs, but fortunately the Exiles have bought some.
The Chaos right was held by a single chariot.
Bugman's Lads hid in the woods.
Chaos wasted no time in advancing.
The allied left flank began to advance.
The Dwarfs caught the chariot.
The Baron picked on the big giant thingy.
Big axes chopping lumps out of the chariot.
The fight was going with the flyers.
The knights charged the Quarrellers as the Baron took on the Lord on Dragon.
The crossbow armed Dwarfs were not faring well.
And were driven back, with just the Runesmith left alive.
Still the generals fought on.
But the Baron eventually prevailed (shooting had weakened the mighty Lord, making his job a bit more achievable). He romped into the rear of the Knights.
Hoping to break them and run them down.
However, the injured Baron was no match for the angry knights.
Who then decided to rampage into the Dwarfs.
Which in turn made them prey for the Pegasus knights.
A hard-fought win for the allies. Chaos Dragon Lords are a scary proposition, but some good shooting and a few whiffed saves gave the Baron a fighting chance at least.
