I painted it on Darrell, dipping it in sounds far too fiddly and messy. I probably won't do any highlighting Stefan. I use dipping to get figures into a reasonable state quickly. Going back and highlighting would take as long as my usual block-wash-highlight method without looking as nice. Dip (for me) is about quick and dirty models.☺ Tom
I use water based wood stain from Wilkinsons. Less than a fiver for a big tin. Also it's water based so I can thin it out to my liking before daubing it on. And it doesn't wreck brushes, smell or any of the other complications from using the "official" product. So yes, I do thin it out. I think to get really nice figures you need to go back and do highlighting like Scrivs and others do (and I'm sure you'd probably want to as well). But for me it's all about getting quick side projects bashed out to a gaming standard pretty quickly. Tom
Looking good ;)

Just out of interest, did you paint the dip on or actually dip them in the can?
ReplyDeleteDarrell.
They're looking good so far.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I would suggest some highlighting in addition.
Cheers
Stefan

Tom,
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know.... I do have another question if you don't mind?
Did you find it necessary to add any thinners?
I'm thinking of giving it a go on some Renagade ECW stuff, lots of nice folds in the fabric etc.
