29 Let's Go! Campaign - Game three -more Probing at La Cambe

With pressure from HQ mounting the Americans really need to get the Germans cleared from La Cambe. I had a whopping 31 points of support for this one, would it be enough?

The first Sherman made an early appearance, nudging past the smoking wreck from a previous assault.

Germans immediately popped up into the hedgerow.

And set their Mg42 up on overwatch.

Inevitable the Germans had their Pak with them. Covering fire soon peppered their defences.

In response Americans too lined the hederows.

With a squad pushing up into the burned ruins of the house on their right.

Extra BARs providing additional support.

An American mortar started to drop shells on the German hedgerow, with the shock soon piling up.

The Pak plugged away.

One Sherman, damaged, withdrew to cover, but was rapidly replaced.

However the Pak struck again!

American firepower spat forth from the hedges.

The squad on the left, seeing the German defence crumbling broke cover.

Supported by another squad.

With pressure and casualties mounting the Germans took the opportunity to withdraw.

Finally I took La Cambe.

I managed to get support weapons firing on the Germans and put them under pressure. I was expecting General Ballroom to withdraw but he hung in far longer than I imagined, and possibly longer than was wise - he took a *lot* of casualties in this game. We'll see how that affects the rest of the campaign.
