Woods

I knocked up some quick wood bases for games. Primarily intended for Dux Bellorum, but they're pretty generic western European area terrain woods.

Made from cheap Poundland floor tiles cut to shape with scissors, then PVA, sand, paint and static grass.
The trees are small GW ones. I've glued them to 2p pieces to give them a bit of heft and improve stability.
Cheap and cheerful but they'll improve the look of games.

  1. When you say floor tiles do you mean like the vinyl kitchen type or carpet or...? I've always made my woods bases from ply or mdf but yours look much nicer...

    1. These were the vinyl sticky backed ones. £1 for a pack of 4 12" square tiles.
These particular ones were endorsed by Tommy Walsh of some ridiculous turn of the century makeover TV program.
I was hoping the sticky side would hold the sand on it's own but it didn't so I had to apply PVA to glue the sand down. I was also concerned they'd warp, but they haven't.

  3. nicely done. I prefer woods to be on bases so the trees can be moved without the terrain borders being lost.
