Stephen braved leaving the 1950s on the Isle of Manly Men and journeyed to modern times on a flying visit to Nottingham.
So we had a game of soldiers. Well actually we had two games of soldiers, but this is a post about the first one. He bought his tournament honed Beastmen and I took all Orcs.
I had a big block of Big 'Uns, plus some Chariots.
Big Un Boarboys too and quite a few Arrer Boys.
Some skirmishers and minotaurs.
The lads rumbled forward.
Boars crashed in to Dragon Ogres. Stephen was carefully positioning his troops to take full advantage of my lads impetuousness.
The Beast Chariot thumped home.
The lads tried taking the fight to the Shaggoth
The annoying harpies charged the chariot in the flank.
Arrer lads are no match for a chatiot.
But the other Chariot at least drew with the harpies.
Next it was the turn of the "board and sword" lads to take a chariot in the face.
Meanwhile the Big 'Uns were getting stuck in.
This went rather better for the green lads.
The Shaggoth meanwhile pounded the chariot to matchwood.
And the Harpy Chariot dust-up ground on.
At last Big Algernon got to grips with the Minotaurs.
And started handing it out.
The Big Uns were making decent progress against the Gor
Big Algernon continued his work.
And still the chariot and harpies ground on their fight.
Dragon Ogres came to help out against the Boys.
And another Beastman chariot evened the odds for the fight in the centre.
Freed up, the Shaggoth turned to look for fresh green meat.
The Big 'Uns were grinding down the Gors in the centre.
However they were overcome and the remaining Gor fell on the Arrer Boys.
The last of the Orcs were surrounded by the Beasts.
The remaining Orcs roared their defiance as the net closed in.
The battlefield belongs to the Beasts!
Great fun game and good to get the Warhammer toys out on the table after a long break. Stephen's been playing a lot more than me and is generally a much better player so I was always on the back foot.
Want to paint some more Greenskins now.
They played Warhammer back in the 1950's...? Haha, just kidding. Those Orc and Goblin type names certainly bring back some memories...
ReplyDeleteAlways good to see greenskins and beastmen slug it out.
