The big day out draws ever nearer.
Thanks to Steve I will, once again, be at Salute. This time helping out with the Guilford Courthouse demo.
All the work has been done by Steve - check out his Paintingshed for full details.
This is the map (lifted from Steve's blog) showing where we'll be, table GA15, just to the right of the main entrance.
Hope to see some of you there, do please drop by and say hello,

Empire Crossbowmen (3)
Second five finished for this unit.
I'm especially fond of the fella taking a wee nip of Dutch courage.
I really must have a serious basing session for this army now.

Wee Saxon Companions for Dux Bellorum
Finally finished the foot companions for my 10mm Saxon army for games of Dux Bellorum.
To tie them together and help distinguish from the other Nobles I used a consistent red and black on the shields. I even tried for a raven/eagle design on the leader's shield.
Pendraken models, nice enough but not as jolly or easy to paint as the Late Romans.
This army is now finished (though I have some cavalry in the painting queue), so I'll try and get some army shots done.

Warhammer Empire Cannon Crew
Crew for the cannon I painted a while ago.
Painted in Ostland colours. Which seem to have played a bit of havoc with the camera/Photoshop - the grey and white of the shirts is not so harsh in real life

Pistoliers in Progress (3)
All done bar the basing. Five classic metal Empire Pistoliers (Perry sculpts. Again)
Of course they won't actually rank up at all.
But apart from that I'm pretty happy.

40K with the kids once more
Easter holidays has meant the boys have played a couple of games of 40K.
They played proper-ish games with 600 points a side and missions and everything.
I refereed and read the rulebbok (and frantically flicked back and forth muttering "who writes this crap").
Game one was won by the eldest boy's Eldar, whilst game two saw the marines triumph.
The models remain resolutely unpainted. I fear the offspring are hoping they'll join my painting queue if they wait long enough.
I'm more inspired to make and paint some new scenery for the desert games they seem to prefer.

Empire Crossbowmen (2)
Got through the first five of the Empire crossbowmen.
Painted in the colours of the Middenheim East Gate Crossbow Detachment, or Von Schiltz's Whitelegs as they are colloquially known.
Nice and easy to paint, though the detail on the crossbow is a little fiddly.
I'm not entirely convinced by them as models, the fact they're based on the state troop plastic models means they're all in marching poses, which seems a little incongruous for a missile unit, especially a move or fire one, but there's no denying they're great little sculpts.
They still need their bases doing. I'm fast approaching a point when I need to do a big batch o' bases for this army.
Five more and I have a unit.
