To my chum's house once more for a three player games with his son. I made up a scenario involving a wagon train. Mainly to make use of the wagons I've been painting. Young N took the caravan guards and his dad and I took attacking Orcs and Easterlings respectively. The wagon train was making its way towards the besieged fortress of Amon Trent. We were trying to stop it getting through - but also trying to stop the other bad guys from getting their hands on the wagons.
As the caravan nears the fortress the ambush is sprung!
Guards hug the hedges as the Easterlings approach from one side and Orcs from the other.
Rangers taking pot-shots at the red clad warriors of the East, while the men of Minas Tirith face off against the Orcs.
The hard bloke with the two handed sword fends off the Easterling menace.
While more Easterlings try to block the road.
It's all a bit bloody on the far flank.
But the wagons are pushing on.
The Easterlings attack the front of the convoy whilst the other wagons start to swerve past attackers.
At the rear the defenders are being cut down.
The Orcs begin pushing two wagons toward their table edge. But a brave Gondorian recaptures one.
Back on the road the thinned forces are locked in a grim dance of death.
In the End the Easterlings managed to get away with one wagon, The brave Gondorian managed to escort another into the fortress (via a side door) but failed courage tests left a single wagon on the road outside the fortress with no-one to escort it any further.
Good fun game and a reasonably balanced scenario. We decided afterwards that maybe having some defenders shoot from the walls to help the escape would have been a good little addition.
