Lord of the Rings Campaign - Balin's Tomb

And so the Fellowship found themselves deep in Moria with a horde of goblins and the sound of troll footsteps echoing down the hallway...

The Fellowship wait to see what will come through the door

I did ask General B. why he hadn't put Gimli on top of the tomb for full movie effect.

The goblins fanned out.

Their archers began picking off some of the Fellowship

The big lads got stick in.

But high quality arrows saw a couple of the Fellowship taken down (you can see Legolas and Pippin over in the dead pile on the right)

Ther were a *lot* of goblins.

Then the Cave Troll arrived (no, I don't know why I painted him yellow - it was 20 years ago, I was young and foolish)

He began charging across the room.

But Gandalf immobilised him

Boromir was keeping Frodo alive.

The goblins kept picking on Gandalf - apart from the hobbits he was probably the easiest to kill.

The goblins began feeding Aragorn just a single one of their number at a time - just to keep him busy and stop him killing several of them at the same time.

Frodo raced towards the far corner of the room with the troll in pursuit.

At this point a lucky arrow from one of the goblins found a chink in his Mithril and the ringbearer reached for his fate points...burning one...then two and finally...

...a three. Frodo was down! Victory to the forces of evil!

But we were having fun, so we game him a wound back and carried on.

Sam proved impossible to put down, braining goblins with his saucepans.

Gimli proved an unstoppable force, no matter how many goblins tried to jump him.

And so the Fellowship made it to the end of ten turns and we called a halt.

In the aftermath of the game Frodo survived! the quest will continue.

However Pippin was found to be deceased for real - his adventure ends here, the fool of a Took.

Very exciting game and it was a very lucky bit of shooting that won me the game.
