On Saturday Stephen and I joined with sixteen other gamers to play a narrative Old World event depicting the attempts of the Dwarfs to recapture Khazid Vosk from it's current Greenskin occupants. We'd all play single games in the morning that would impact on a pair of huge mass battles in the afternoon that would decide the fate of the hold.
Originally Stephen and I were both planning to take our Greenskin forces - I was on the point of buying a Mangler Squig to really bulk out the Night Goblins. However numbers were a bit imbalanced and so, having a pretty large Dwarf collection I volunteered to join the other side. I was hoping to get some warm-up games in beforehand but life conspired against me, so it turned out my first and second ever Old World games using the Dwarfs would be at the event!
To further complicate matters some last minute Dwarf drop-outs meant I was going to start the day playing a "last stand" affair where my single army had to hold out for as long as possible against two entire other forces!
But like a proper stoical Dwarf I rolled up my sleeves and, with an appropriate level of grumbling, got on with it!
