 Scary Daemon Lawnmower type thingy.

Lovely looking model, but flimsy - I'm worried about how it'll last in a game or two.

Oathmark Necromancer

 I started painting this guy back in October for the Northstar Halloween painting competition. But got distracted. Another Christmas finish up model.

Lovely model and has me thinking again about a Dragon Rampant or Midgard undead force.

Warmaster Revolution - Chaos v Empire 2,000 points

With our Winter Warmer Tournament just around the corner chum Matt was ready for a warm-up game. He has an original metal GW Chaos army that's not seen the table for maybe 20 years.

I dug the Empire out and Alan was on hand to provide advice and look up rules.

I went with four commanders for a change.

Plenty of White Wolf knights.

Matt's lovely old models.

Including a big bad black dragon.

Some of the Warriors lined a hedge.

The Chaos Wizard went for a walk.

On the Empire right flank a big fight broke out.

With Dragons and Griffons joining in.

I thought I'd overreached myself here.

But as it turned out it went well at first - until the Dragon Ogres caught up!

Elsewhere my fields were full of gribblies.

Well, apart from the one with the cannon overlooking it.

The infantry came to blows on the Empire left.

The Flagellants got caught in the open by the Ogres (being played here by some Daemons)

We even had time for a Wizard fight.

The Chaos Dragon was still rampaging around.

And was soon devouring most of my army.

I managed to get some Warriors caught in a flank attack.

But the Dragon and Spawn were going about their grim business.

And the Ogres and knights wiped out still more infantry.

That pushed me over break point and Matt ran out the winner.

Chaos are tough and I failed to get my cannon in the right place to break things up.

Good to have helped another player back in to the Warmaster saddle.

Slaanesh Daemonettes

 A unit of 18 more Daemonettes.

That gives me three units this size.

Orc Arrer Boys

 Painted at some point in the hazy Christmas period, eleven (no idea why that number) of the old Orc archer models from the 6th edition box.

Need to do a few more so I have a nice chunky unit. They're not very good at shooting, but they are still Orc boys, so if you don't deal with 'em they're gonna get ya!

Midgard - Late Romans ambushed by Saxons

James came over to play another Midgard game - the second of our quite slow burning campaign.

We were playtesting one of the campaign scenarios, in this case Artos, triumphant after his last victory was waylaid as he made off with his booty and caught in a Saxon trap.

They've even got some liberated cows with them.

Barring the way a frankly puny Saxon force.

The British rumble on.

Ready to sweep Saxons aside.

Hairy barbarian archers - no match for Big British shields.

Oh, hang on, there's some more of them on the right!

Artos heads straight for the blockade line.

The hairy barbarian archers withdraw to the woods, from where they will continue to be very annoying.

The trap begins to close.

Artos is punching through but the right flank is under pressure.

Can the defenders hold on to their cows?

No. And Old Man Merlin seems unlikely to hold them up much.

More Saxons threaten the left.

As the right flank attackers break through.

In the end the Saxons had recaptured too many of Artos' prized possessions and claimed the victory.

A hard fought but very enjoyable fight which saw a high death toll amongst the heroes.
